Floor Drain Plug

A floor drain plug is a tapered polyurethane stopper that wedges into a round floor drain so spilled oil, fuel or chemicals can't reach the sewer. Push it in by hand; no tools or mechanical parts are needed. It can stay in the drain as standing spill prevention and pulls out when you need the drain. Sizes run from 2 in. to 12 in.

Description: Our floor drain plugs are made of polyurethane for a tight, chemical resistant seal. They can remain in the drain as a spill prevention method and are easily removable when the drain is needed. Non-absorbing and can be easily cleaned with soap and water. Available in many sizes and come with attached or removable eyebolts.

Uses: Our safety seal conical plugs prevent spills from entering circular drains. Additional technical information on order page.

Floor Drain Plug Questions

What size floor drain plug do I need?

Order the plug size that matches the inside diameter of the drain opening. A 3-in. plug fits a 3-in. hole at a point about two-thirds of the way up the taper, so the plug seals partway in.

Can a drain plug stay in the drain?

Yes. Many facilities leave plugs in floor drains near chemical or fuel storage as standing spill prevention, then pull them out when the drain is needed.

Yellow or orange plugs: what's the difference?

Both are polyurethane taper plugs in high-visibility colors. Yellow plugs come in 2, 3, 4 and 6 in. (plus a 2-3-4 in. set); orange plugs come in 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 in. for larger drains.

Are drain plugs reusable?

Yes. They don't absorb liquid; wash with soap and water and reuse. Call (800) 869-9633 for a chemical-compatibility check.

Do drain plugs help with spill compliance?

Yes. Keeping spills out of floor and storm drains helps you stay compliant with SPCC containment rules (40 CFR 112.7(c)(1)) and your stormwater plan (40 CFR 122.26).
